Dear Friends,
We are eagerly anticipating National Poetry Month this year, for many reasons. The first of course being our love of poetry, and how motivating an entire month can be! We also have each undertaken a goal of reaching one hundred submissions this calendar year, so hopefully April will prove to be a productive month so we have more poems to send out.
The final thing we are excited about is Taylor Swift’s timely release date for her new album. Titled “The Tortured Poets Department,” it is set to come out right in the middle of poetry month, which means that we, of course, had to plan something fun for this community.
To celebrate, we decided to use her track list as inspiration for eighteen days of writing a poem a day to start National Poetry Month. We’ve created a simple prompt to go with each track. You can write one daily starting April 1st, following along with us as we enter our “Tortured Poets Era.”
Since the album comes out during poetry month, this is a fun way to do a few weeks of daily prompts with less pressure. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a swiftie to enjoy the prompts— we made sure they are fun for anyone! We would love to hear from you if you participate, so tag us here on Substack or over on our Instagram with the poetry that comes from these eighteen days of prompts!! We won’t torture you any further, poets! Here’s the list of tracks/prompts so you can get ready for April 1st:
So mark your calendars, save this newsletter, and check out our Instagram for daily reminders once the challenge starts!
Have a blessed week!
What a fun idea!
