A moody little offering

The last day of July is a mood; I can’t believe we only have one more month of summer—heat on my back, walking in the hot sun, the lake shimmering like this dazzling piece of polymer on my finger… as if the heat radiating from my hand holds some secret window into my soul. I doubt it. But I still peer down, beads of sweat dripping down my nose as I scrutinize the color changes. What does murky brown mean?
