Dear Friends,
Summer is washing over us like waves in an ocean. We are treading water and embracing the warmth all around us.
This week’s Craft & Play is a diamanté poem— a poem in the shape of a diamond. Think of the poem’s structure as one swell of the tide. Beginning with a small line, the subsequent lines grow longer until the middle point, then they recede back down. This form is simple, but the restriction of the shape sparks new creative ideas.
Write a word bank full of words that could relate to the body of water you’ve chosen as your subject
Write the poem. You can shape it as you write it or shape it afterwards by adjusting the line breaks
Adjust spacing as necessary to create the diamond shape
